Richard Walker
Richard is a graduate of Edinboro University of PA (1996), earned an MBA from Wayne State University (2004) and a J.D. from Michigan State University College of Law (2007). Originally from Homestead, PA (Pittsburgh) and a graduate of Steel Valley High School, he has spent the past 17 years in Metro Detroit.
Richard is a seasoned business development professional and entrepreneur who genuinely enjoys the challenge of developing a concept into a functioning business. Over the past few years, Richard’s focus has been identifying IT solutions in the rapidly evolving sports technology and healthcare fields. His strategic understanding of his clients’ needs keeps them on the cusp of ever-changing technology and policy, always with an eye toward user-friendliness and customer satisfaction.
Richard’s background in business law and his training in marketing (Campbell-Ewald, Driven Communications, SMG) combine to create a unique skill set. He quickly and thoroughly identifies his clients’ specific needs and provides integral solutions with a cohesive vision that looks toward the future.
Richard spent over 10 years working in advertising in both business development and account management with clients such as Michelin Tires, Panasonic Automotive, and the Detroit Lions. He worked several years in sales for large media and entertainment organizations such as Radio One Inc., WTAE-TV (ABC Pittsburgh/Hearst Broadcasting) and the Richmond Coliseum (Richmond, VA/SMG). He also spent time creating and managing marketing opportunities for professional athletes.
As a law student, Richard focused his studies on Intellectual Property and Corporate Law to complement his sales and marketing experience. Richard started his own successful law and business consulting practice specializing in entrepreneurship and strategic planning.
As the Chief Marketing Officer and Vice President of Strategic Development of a national law firm, Richard assisted in the development of an online, legal services platform.
Recently, Richard joined the Coulter Translational Research Partners II (TPII) Advisory Board at the University of Pittsburgh. Richard’s associations and resources have yielded a well-rounded professional network in technology, healthcare, higher education, sports, entertainment, and business.
